The Dualers • Saturday 19th April
The Dualers
With support from DJ's spinning bluebeat, ska, two-tone faves with a side order of real deal 60's soul, power pop and new wave.
The Dualers first came to the attention of the nation in October 2004
when they became the world's first street performers to enter the UK
singles chart. Debuting at number 21 with self-penned Kiss on the Lips,
they sold more records that week than established artists such as Duran
Duran, the Scissor Sisters, Ronan Keating, Girls Aloud, and Natasha
Bedingfield. No small feat given the lack of backing and publicity.
In November 2005, The Dualers released their second single, Truly Madly Deeply, another chart hit, entering at number 23 ahead of Bananarama, Jamiroquai, and Corrine Bailey Rae. Following the release of a third single, Don't Go, their debut album, The Melting Pot, was unleashed on the nation on July 3rd, 2006.
The band is fronted by mercurial brothers Si and Tyber Cranstoun. Their musical preferences were heavily influenced by their father, Bill, who helped to introduce ska and soul music to the capital as aprt of the Savoy Sound System.
“These local superstars are inching towards fame” –
The Independent
“When you start dancing to these guys, it's impossible to stop” *ndash; The Sun
“The Dualers soulful harmonising has admirable echoes of Bob Marley and Sam Cooke” – Q Magazine
Doors 8pm, show starts 9.30pm, bar closes 1am

COMEDY@KINGSMEADOW presents...
Felix Dexter, Vince Atta and Lee Canterbury
Felix Dexter (Closing act)
The talents of Felix Dexter appear to have no bounds as he easily slides from comedy, into acting, then into writing and then producing. In the late 80's Felix's contemporaries on the comedy scene were people like Eddie Izard, Jo Brand, Lee Hurst. He still attains full houses wherever he performs on the circuit.
One of his latest achievements has been to be able to take on roles in Shakespeare at Stratford upon Avon, as well as numerous televison credits to his name. Famous for his pivitol role in BBC 2 cult TV show 'The Real McCoy' as well as a more recent role in 'Absoulutely Fabulous' on BBC 1 that has raised his profile still further.
Vince Atta (Opening act)
“An unstoppable force, forging a brilliant rapport with the audience.. like an intravenous shot of adrenaline!” – Steve Bennett, Chortle reviews

Lee Canterbury (Compere)
Like a ball of energy bouncing around the stage, Lee's ability to whip up an audience has been admired from Aberdeen to Exeter. Lee started his stand-up career in
1997, when he received rave reviews in The Evening Standard after his very first gig. He went on to be runner up in The Hackney Empire New Act of the year in 1998
and was a finalist in The Daily Telegraph open mic competition at Edinburgh in the same year. Sharing the bill with Daniel Kitson in their show The Monkey Touchers,
Lee returned with critical acclaim to Edinburgh in 1999
